This move helps the Packers at a critical area of need, but it also hurts a divisional rival, as Amos had played for the Chicago Bears over the last four years. The Bears drafted Amos out of Penn State in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and he has been a full-time starter since his rookie year. Amos has three interceptions in his career (all coming in the last two years), three forced fumbles, and two sacks. Given the flurry of safeties coming off the market on Monday, Amos was probably the second-best player remaining at the position, behind Earl Thomas.Amos fills a huge need at safety for the Packers. Yes John Cominsky Atlanta Falcons Jersey , he’s a tight end, but that’s not all."The Falcons’ fullback position has been in a flux several times over the last couple of years, especially after the departure of Patrick DiMarco. So while flux lies ahead again in 2019, it’s sort of nice to know who will be competing for the fullback job this early in the year, and even who will likely win the job.That’s because the job here in the early going is between an incumbent who was an afterthought in last year’s offense with a different offensive coordinator, and a fresh import who has experience in a Dirk Koetter offense and can play tight end and fullback, even though it’s not his primary role. For a team that prizes versatility, that’s a big plus. That guy is recent signee Luke Stocker. We don’t yet know how tight end is going to shake out with Austin Hooper, Logan Paulsen, and Eric Saubert all also around, but it’s very conceivable the team could keep four tight ends if Stocker’s going to play more than one role. Per Dan Quinn at the spring NFL meetings, specifically talking about the fullback position: Now, it’s possible the Falcons elect to use neither and bring in a new fullback, but the role has lessened in importance and impact for a couple of years now and the team would be wise to use a roster spot on a player who can do more than one thing. Ricky Ortiz played 13% of the offensive snaps (20% on special teams) in 2018, down from Derrick Coleman’s 22% of offensive snaps (and 63% of special teams snaps), which was in turn down considerably from DiMarco’s 31% of offensive snaps in 2016. Ortiz is a solid player but not a great one, and his limited ST role means the Falcons were using a roster spot on a player who wasn’t on the field for 85%-plus of the team’s snaps a year ago. It’s little wonder that Stocker’s being considered for that role, given that he has played more special teams snaps than Ortiz with the Titans and Bucs in each of the last three seasons. Importantly, the Falcons signed Stocker because he’s a player with prior experience in Dirk Koetter’s offense, which has not been fullback friendly in recent years. In 2017 Koetter used Alan Cross as a fullback/tight end hybrid on just 10% of offensive snaps, and under Koetter and Todd Monken last year the team barely used a traditional fullback at all. If Stocker is capable of playing fullback on the handful of snaps he’ll be asked to do so per game, and can serve as the third or fourth tight end, and can chip in on special teams Black John Cominsky Jersey , he’ll be an extremely useful player for the Falcons in 2019, and if he beats out Paulsen entirely the Falcons have have a free roster spot to shore up their defense or offensive line depth. So why should the Falcons consider bringing in Sumpter, who earned All-Conference honors three times during his Kennesaw State career? It’s easier just to show you: Sumpter, a Georgia native, took the time to speak with The Falcoholic about his draft preparation process, how he might fit in Atlanta, and what it would be like to play for his hometown team. Why should NFL teams be considering Sumpter? As an Atlanta local who grew up following the Falcons, that was a special experience.“That was a great experience, too, being able to go out and practice or try out, in a way, and show my skills for the home team — the team I’ve grown up going to their games,” Sumpter said. “I had season tickets one season. I’m really familiar with them more than any other team out there, just because I’m from Georgia, so I’ve been to some of the games, grew up watching the guys ... just knowing that one day I might be on the same team as them, it’s really a great feeling. So having somebody like that around and being able to meet them is really motivational.”It’s no secret that the Falcons have arguably the strongest receiver group in football today. Playing with those guys would be a valuable learning experience for Sumpter. “I’m really just excited about it, because those are some of the top receivers in the game right now,” Sumpter said of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. “Me, coming from the triple option, I do have a lot to learn as a receiver. So being around those guys I feel like I would learn so much — just their releases, how to approach game situations, and how to read the DBs and have leverage and stuff like that. So I feel like it would only be a positive thing for me just to be around such a strong receiving corps.”So how would Sumpter fit into the Falcons’ offensive scheme?“Well, they would probably develop me into more of a route-running receiver, but I feel like they’d mainly use me just for the blocking the majority of the time, like on screens,” Sumpter said. “And I would have no problem with that ... laying a big block for Julio, he’s sprinting up the sideline for a touchdown. We’re knee-deep in mock draft season Barry Sanders Jersey , and with three months until the highly anticipated event, it’s time to start look at what draft analysts all over the world think may happen in the 2019 NFL Draft. We now know that the Lions hold three picks in the first 88 selections of the draft, but who will they select?Between now and then, prospects will move up and down the board based on their NFL Combine performance, Senior Bowl play and other draft related events before April. But for now, let’s take a look around the webosphere to get a baseline of who may be available when the Lions are slotted to pick eighth overall.The Draft Network (Benjamin Solak)Round 1 pick: Houston DT Ed Oliver This name will probably come as a shock to many who declared back in November they wanted the Lions to “Play Dead for Ed,” who was thought to be an top-five lock in the 2019 draft. However, Solak defends Oliver’s drop here by saying that the Houston defensive tackle may not be the kind of player everyone is looking for.“Oliver is gonna be a player that only some teams like,” Solak wrote. “His size (if he hits 280 pounds it’s a huge win) will turn some teams away.”But given that Aaron Donald was given the “undersized” label and taking into account Oliver’s unbelievable production (53.0 tackles for loss in three seasons), Oliver seems like an easy pick here if he’s available—even if he’s not an ideal fit in Matt Patricia’s defensive scheme. Round 2 pick: Stanford TE Kaden SmithIt’s undeniable that tight end is a huge need for the Lions after Detroit aggressively tried to add one last year and failed. Way back in September, our own Kent Lee Platte talked up Smith as a potential target for 2019: Smith proved to be just as valuable as expected in 2018. He pulled in 47 catches for 635 yards and two touchdowns in his junior year. However, he did miss the final three games with a foot injury. Smith joins a long list of former Stanford Cardinal tight ends that project well to the NFL. Since 2012, five Stanford tight ends have been taken in the draft: Dalton Schulz, Austin Hooper Michael Roberts Jersey , Zach Ertz, Levine Toilolo and Coby Fleener. SB Nation (Dan Kadar)Round 1 pick: Clemson DE Clelin Ferrell Ferrell would fill arguably the Lions’ biggest need as an edge defender, and coming off a solid National Championship performance, it’s easy to see why this was the pick Kadar made. Ferrell’s production at Clemson has been undeniable—producing 38.0 tackles for loss and 21.0 sacks in his past two seasons. However, he is also one of the most polarizing prospects in the draft because of inconsistent tape and questions about his limited pass rushing moves.CBS Sports (Ryan Wilson)Round 1 pick: Washington CB Byron MurphyA favorite of our own Alex Reno, Murphy could come in and immediately fill the void the Lions have had alongside Darius Slay for years. In 2018, the Lions allowed a passer rating of 102.7 (30th) and 7.9 yards per attempt (t-27th). Although Nevin Lawson is signed for another season, the Lions are likely looking to upgrade considering they made efforts to sign Richard Sherman and Malcolm Butler last offseason. As for Murphy himself, I’ll let Reno explain what he would bring to the table:NJ.com (Mike Kaye)Round 1 pick: Kentucky EDGE Josh Allen Most believe Allen will be long gone by the time the Lions are on the clock at eighth overall, but in Kaye’s hypothetical draft, an early run on quarterbacks (Dwayne Haskins, Kyler Murray and Drew Lock) helped the premier edge talent fall to Detroit. If this were to happen, it’s hard to imagine the Lions spending more than a couple seconds on the clock. Allen has the production, athleticism and versatility to be a centerpiece to Patricia’s defense Taylor Decker Jersey , especially with Ezekiel Ansah likely gone next season. CBS Sports (Chris Trapasso)Round 1 pick: Ole Miss WR A.J. BrownWhile most mocks are understandably focused on defense in early rounds, wide receiver should certainly be a pretty high priority for the Lions, as well. The trade of Golden Tate and injury to Marvin Jones Jr. highlighted the Lions’ lack of receiving depth (especially without a tight end threat). Brown is a bit of a polarizing prospect, because while his route-running is undeniably impressive, his athletic traits aren’t exactly eye-popping. He projects to be the kind of big slot receiver that the Lions coveted with Anquan Boldin a few years back, so the fit is presumably good—although Detroit’s lack of offensive coordinator makes it hard to definitively say that. With all the excitement around the NFL last weekend, it was one high-scoring Saints-Buccaneers game that brought home all the money in daily fantasy contests.Tampa Bay quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 400-plus yards and four touchdowns, while adding another 36 yards and a score with his legs. Two of Fitzpatrick’s top weapons, DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans, cracked the 100-yard threshold and accounted for three of the receiving touchdowns.On the other side of the ball, the New Orleans was forced to play catch-up, leading Drew Brees to attempt 45 passes, the majority going toward Michael Thomas (16 catches, 180 yards A’Shawn Robinson Jersey , one TD) and Alvin Kamara (9-112-1). There was more than 1,000 yards of total offense in the Bucs’ 48-40 victory. And the $1 million Fanduel winner loaded up on the game, playing Fitzpatrick, Jackson, Thomas and Kamara.Stacking, or pairing a QB with a wide receiver or tight end, is a strategy that has been used for years by many of the best fantasy players to win daily fantasy tournaments. The Saints-Bucs game showed the power of “game stacking” 鈥?combining up to three or four players from the same game in hopes of a shootout. While it’s an aggressive approach that can leave fantasy players in last place if it doesn’t work, it will hit big when it hits.One of the best games to consider stacking this weekend is the San Francisco 49ers vs the Detroit Lions. Jimmy Garoppolo was held in check last week at Minnesota, which finished as the third toughest defense in 2017 against opposing QBs. The 49ers should bounce back this week at home versus the Lions, who are on a short week having given up 48 points to the Jets on Monday night. The 49ers have the fourth highest team total this week with Las Vegas oddsmakers projecting them to score close to 27 points.With wide receiver Marquise Goodwin day-to-day, Garoppolo can be paired with wide receiver Pierre Garcon and tight end George Kittle, who accounted for 47 percent of the team’s targets in the opening game. If Garoppolo has a tournament-winning performance (300-plus yards or three-plus touchdowns) it is likely that both Garcon and Kittle benefit. The other value of a 49ers game stack is that you can “bring it back” with an attractive stack from the opposing team. Wide Receiver Kenny Golladay is an attractive value and his $4,800 price was locked in before he exploded Monday night for 100-plus yards and 20-plus fantasy points on DraftKings. Golladay out-snapped both Golden Tate and Marvin Jones, accounting for 93-percent of the snaps and receiving 12 targets Graham Glasgow Jersey , making him the top option as part of this game stack.For daily users who prefer multi mass enter contests, composing 20 or more lineups in a single contest, the 49ers-Lions game is perfect. While Golladay is the preferred option due to value, all three Lions receivers are projected within 3 fantasy points of each other. "I'm focused on us getting this (win) and us finishing off the week right, going in there prepared and executing the plan and whatever happens happens. And I don't really focus on 1,000 yards. As long as we get this win, that's what I'll be happy with." The 6-foot-3, 247-pound Henry has turned around not just his season, but cemented his spot on the Tennessee roster. Rumors swirled that the Titans tried to trade him away at the deadline earlier this year, and Henry lost his starting spot to veteran Dion Lewis in November.Then Henry, who had been running much better since Tennessee's bye at the end of October, turned in a game for the record books Dec. 6.Henry tied Tony Dorsett's NFL record with a 99-yard touchdown run and finished with a franchise-record 238 yards on 17 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 30-9 rout of Jacksonville. That being said, I would be surprised if the Texans get anything for him. If they can get anything at all they should take it. The salary Whitney Mercilus Jersey White , injury history, and previous performance aren’t worth the roster spot, and it’s money that can go elsewhere to improve a hideous cornerback group. Mathieu tricks you into thinking he provides more than he actually does. Justn Reid can be used in the same role as Mathieu, and is better at it. The reasons why the Texans would sign Mathieu instead is age, and scheme fit. Mathieu will be 27 and Jackson will be 31 when the 2019 season starts. And the Texans probably think that by upgrading the cornerback position they can get Mathieu out of the slot and have him play more strong safety than he did last year. Fine. I get it. I would just rather have Jackson, who can play the same role, is great at what he does, then have Mathieu. If I was Brian Gaine I’d offer Jackson some type of two-year contract to stay here instead of keep Mathieu around. There’s also the chance both leave and Houston plays Hal and Reid at safety and add a cheap veteran as a third safety to put even more money in the cornerback position. This seems unlikely though. I’d expect for Mathieu to stay and for Jackson to leave based on what the internet has told me. Oh well. Whatever. I’m not mad. You’re mad. Lastly Womens Kendall Lamm Jersey , expect for Clowney to be franchise tagged by Tuesday or prior to it. As Wilson states, the Texans can tag Clowney and ensure he stays on the team for the 2019 season.
